Went out flying with a different instructor last night; I'm not avoiding my usual guy, just the way the schedule went.
I decided to go out and do some stalling. I've completed the exercise before but under fairly close direction of an instructor. This time I wanted to do them in an environment where I was taking the lead. I went through the IAA test schedule to see what I will be asked to do in the test and wrote out the actions involved in each of the test points. With that information clear in my mind I was much more of a participant in the lesson and I would be comfortable to go out and do some stalling exercises on my own.
Brian threw a simulated engine failure into the mix; I still haven't gotten around to getting that drill off-by-heart. I'd better do that this evening along with a flight log for a cross country trip tomorrrow.
Back at the field I put in two landings and four touch-downs. Rubbishy landings, rubbishy, rubbishy. Brian had the decency to accept my own self-criticism and not feel the need to add anything to it.
His overall comment; relaxed, composed stalling and recovery and that he was comfortable flying with me. It always reassures me to have instructors who are happy to be in the same airplane as me - though, that's not going to be enough to pass my test. So more effort required.
