It has taken me a week to put it up here but I actually had this less than 24 hours after passing the test. I took my copy of the test sheet and my credit card and cycled into the IAA the following morning. I had been speaking to the very nice lady in Personnel Licencing and she told me that she'd be able to print up a licence if appeared in person. How could I not take up that offer.
Since then I've flown once. Last Friday I booked in for some local flying. I just wanted to get used to be in the plane on my own a bit more and to get that first P1 entry in the log book. It was a short hop. 45 minutes that took me from Weston to Kinnegad and back. The landing wasn't hectic; actually the landing was okay but the approach was a bit low-and-slow. But I made it back safely.
What about nerves? They weren't really a factor. I was a little apprehensive, as I have been on solo training flights, but only enough to keep me on my two. I wasn't afraid of being on my own per-se, just conscious of not having someone in the right seat to keep an eye on me. I think my reasonable comfort in an aeroplane is probably due to the fact that I do actually have a fair number of hours up for a new PPL holder. 125 hours in fact. Just looking at my log-book 20+ hours of that is solo time. That's more than I'd thought. Those solo hours have probably dulled and edge of fear I might have had.
Now I just have to guard against complacency - and fly as much as I possible can!!

Congratulations!
